2CoreSIM Named Glotel Awards 2026 Finalist for Redefining Critical IoT Connectivity
Stuttgart, Germany, 2 October 2026
2CoreSIM has been named a finalist in the IoT Innovation category of the Glotel Awards 2026. The recognition places a new approach to critical IoT connectivity alongside fellow finalists Mavenir and Singtel, and marks a milestone for the four companies behind it: Crout, Melita, Telefónica Germany and Kigen.
The Glotel Awards, one of the most respected international awards in the telecoms industry, are run by Telecoms.com and judged by an independent panel of analysts and specialists from firms including Omdia, Opensignal, Ookla and TechInsights. In the organiser’s words: “Hundreds of entries to the 2026 Global Telecoms Awards have been painstakingly whittled down to a shortlist representing the best of the telecoms industry.” Winners will be announced on 1 December 2026.
Why critical IoT connectivity cannot rely on one network
Most IoT devices still depend on a single mobile network. When that network suffers an outage, the device goes offline, often with no warning and no quick fix. For critical installations, that is not an acceptable risk. Lost connectivity can mean lost data, halted operations, costly site visits and, in some sectors, safety concerns.
Roaming-based failover has long been the industry’s workaround. It still relies on agreements between operators and on the behaviour of a single home network. It is not true network independence.
Two independent networks, one SIM

2CoreSIM takes a different path. It is an eUICC SIM carrying two independent network profiles, from Melita and Telefónica Germany. A SIM applet monitors connectivity quality and makes switching decisions locally, on the SIM itself, without waiting for network commands. If reception degrades or a network becomes unavailable, the SIM moves to the other profile automatically. There is no dependence on roaming and no single point of failure.
Deployment is just as simple. 2CoreSIM works with a single APN across both networks, so there is no need to configure APNs manually, and no changes are required to the connected IoT device. Built on eUICC technology, 2CoreSIM also provides a future-proof basis for eSIM SGP.32 scenarios.
The result is resilience designed in at network level. Devices stay connected, operators of critical infrastructure keep their data flowing, and IoT deployments can scale with confidence.
A partnership built for resilience
2CoreSIM brings together four companies, each contributing a distinct strength.
- Crout and Telefónica Germany developed 2CoreSIM as a joint venture. Crout, the IoT industry experts, designed the solution and brought it to market, shaping it around what happens in the field when connectivity fails. Telefónica Germany, one of Germany’s leading mobile network operators, contributes one of the two independent networks.
- Melita, Crout’s parent company, is a reliable MNO headquartered in Malta. It provides the second independent network and global IoT connectivity through its roaming platform, giving 2CoreSIM the reach to serve deployments worldwide.
- Kigen, a pioneer in GSMA-certified eSIM, iSIM and Remote SIM Provisioning security, provides the trusted foundation that keeps every 2CoreSIM device protected at scale. Kigen was among the first to bring a fully certified eSIM OS, eSA-certified eSIM hardware and a SAS-certified eIM to market.
Already proving itself in the field
2CoreSIM has now moved from product development into its operational field phase. The first test kits are with selected customers and partners, who are evaluating connectivity behaviour, profile switching, recovery logic and resilience performance under real operating conditions. Target applications include critical infrastructure such as energy, water and pipelines, security and alarm systems, healthcare, industrial monitoring, cold chain logistics and early-warning systems. The Glotel shortlisting adds independent industry recognition to what early deployments are showing: dual network resilience is where critical IoT connectivity is heading.
“Redundancy is not resilience if the failover does not happen. That is the real lesson for critical IoT. 2CoreSIM runs two independent mobile network profiles and infrastructures on one SIM, with autonomous switching logic directly on the eUICC. It detects the failure, switches over and keeps the process running, with no changes required to the connected device. Reaching the Glotel Awards final shows the industry agrees: when connectivity matters, one network is not enough. Resilience is the new KPI.” Frank Kiesewetter, CEO, Crout
“2CoreSIM shows what becomes possible when two mobile network operators work together to give customers more resilience. Melita’s global IoT connectivity and Telefónica Germany’s network now sit side by side on one SIM, so critical devices always have a second path to stay online. With Crout and Kigen alongside us, this recognition confirms the market is ready for a new standard in critical IoT connectivity.” Israel Eybi, Chief Product and Marketing Officer, Melita
